The small knobbly tuber is not a relative of the globe artichoke and is not a relative of the globe artichoke and is actually related to the sunflower.
The French word for sunflower is girasole and where the word 'Jerusalem' comes from. They are either pale brown or purplish-red colour. They have a firm texture with a distinctive nutty taste.
