The clementine originated in Algeria at the beginning of the 20th century. It's the smallest of the tangerine family, with thin bright orange peel. Clementines have a distinctive sweet-sharp, intensely flavoured aromatic flesh with no pips. They come into season in the Autumn, so they make a popular fruit eaten at Christmas time. Their small size makes them good for peeling and bottling in syrup or alcohol. They can also be added to a mixed fruit marmalade. <youtube>e5vaohn28H4</YouTube> [[Category:Citrus Fruit]]
