Related to the Bilberry and Blueberry, Cranberries are hard bright red berries with a sour, tart flavour.

They are usually eaten cooked as would require a large amount of sugar if eaten raw as they are very sour. Cranberries contain a large amount of pectin making them especially good for preserves such as Cranberry Jelly, which is regularly used as an accompaniment for meat, especially Turkey at Christmas.
