Banana shallot

The largest variety of shallot, of shallot, band shallots have pale brown, papery skin and a tapering, torpedo shape. They can vary in size from 6.5cm to about 10cm long. They have a milder flavour than the brown and pink shallots. Banana shallots are good finally chopped and used in raw in vinaigrettes or sprinkled over salads, or sautéed at the start of a recipe, as you would sauté onions.
