Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday
What did Jesus do on Easter Sunday? Easter Sunday marks Jesus's resurrection. After Jesus was crucified on the Friday his body was taken down from the cross and buried in a cave tomb. The tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers and an enormous stone was put over the entrance. On Sunday Mary Magdalene and some of Jesus's disciples visited the tomb.
Lamb is a popular main dish on Easter in the U.S. and throughout Europe, such as the roast lamb common in the U.K. and Greece, or the French gigot d'agneau pascal, a rich, slow-cooked lamb stew often served with spring vegetables. Roast Lamb.
What not to eat on Easter Sunday? This is a practice that Catholics still maintain, a fact that leads them to give up the consumption of red meat throughout Lent in order to remember the sacrifice of the son of God. Although fish can be eaten, many faithful choose to make a fast.
