Pink pepper is not a real pepper such as black, white or green pepper. Pink peppercorns are berries of the Peruvian (Brazilian) pepper tree.

This tree is a member of the sumac and cashew families. It can be found in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, California, Florida, Texas, and Arizona. The aroma of the pink peppercorn is similar to the black peppercorn, but with a fruity aftertaste and is not as strong and spicy as the "real" peppercorns.

Suggested use Pink pepper gives cheese, poultry, and fish a unique taste. Because of its citrus aroma, pink pepper can be used in desserts, fruit salads, and ice cream. The mild taste of the fruits suggests that they should not be combined with other spices as their taste is lost among other flavors.
