Pittyvaich distillery Silent distilleries are distilleries that are no longer in operation.

Some may have been mothballed (closed for a period of time due to financial constraints) while others may have been demolished completely. Either way, it means the whiskies produced from these distilleries are in short supply and high demand.

The Pittyvaich distillery operated for less than two decades from 1975 to 1993 before being demolished in 2002. Grapefruit and lime zest aromas give way to apricot and hints of marzipan. A full finish with lingering cocoa powder.

Colour: golden.

Nose: fragrant pear combined with dried ginger and orchard blossom. Seville orange gives way to apple and white chocolate.

Taste: grapefruit and lime zest are followed by chilli spice. Honeydew melon and apricot lead to hints of marzipan.

Finish: full with lingering cocoa powder.
