Also called salad onions, green onions or scallions, these long, slim onions with white bulbs and tender green leaves can be early maturing onions or an ordinary onion picked early. They sometimes have a bulbous bulb, or can be slender. They are mild in flavour and are often eaten raw in salads or as a garnish or in quick cook dishes such as stir fries.
