Sweet potato - Native to South America, the sweet potato is not related to the common potato. It is usually elongated in shape, but there are also rounder varieties, the skin can be brown or remand the flesh can be deep orange or pale yellow. Sweet potatoes have a sweet chestnut flavour and become softener and creamy when cooked. Some may have a fibrous texture. They are in season during the Autumn and Winter.
